Devon Gates

Devon Gates is a bassist, vocalist, and composer from Atlanta, GA, currently based between Boston and Brooklyn. A Harvard and Berklee graduate, she has worked with leading artists like Terri Lyne Carrington and esperanza spalding, and performed at major festivals worldwide. Her compositions have earned prestigious awards including the Marion Brown and HerVoice prizes. An educator and researcher, she has held faculty roles at Harvard and Berklee, and her interdisciplinary work spans music, social justice, and community engagement.
