Award-winning saxophonist Mat Schumer has built a career defined by versatility, musicianship, and high-profile live performances. Originally from the New York metropolitan area, he began performing professionally at age 19 with his debut at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola before developing a career that spans jazz, Latin music, pop, hip hop, Motown, classical, and big band.
His diverse performance background includes appearances with Grammy Award-winning pianist Arturo O’Farrill, legendary French classical saxophonist Claude Delangle, Grammy Award-winning bandleader Jeffrey Holmes, DJ Logic, Saunders Sermons, and performances with Motown icons The Four Tops and The Temptations.
Since relocating to Las Vegas in 2014, Mat has become a sought-after performer throughout the city’s entertainment scene. He has held the full-time saxophone chair in Pin Up at the Stratosphere and has performed in productions including VEGAS! The Show at Planet Hollywood and Human Nature at The Venetian. His recording credits include work with former Temptations lead singer Bo Henderson.
Performance credits include Bruno Mars, Billy Idol, Jack Black, Steven Tyler, Steve Vai, Steve Stevens, CeeLo Green, Doja Cat, Anthony Kiedis, Macy Gray, Dave Navarro, Billy Gibbons, Nas, Ludacris, Rakim, and Teddy Swims. Mat is also a founding member of the Las Vegas Raiders House Band at Allegiant Stadium and performs with Bruno Mars’ house band, The Diamonds, at the Pinky Ring.
