The High and Wides
Maryland string band blending bluegrass, old-time, rockabilly, western swing, and early rock ’n’ roll into original hillbilly boogie with fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, and close harmonies.
The High & Wides
The High & Wides are a four-piece modern string band with roots in Baltimore and the rural Delmarva peninsula. Built on guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, bass, and vocals, the group draws from straight-ahead bluegrass while weaving in old-time, rockabilly, western swing, new wave, and early rock ’n’ roll influences. Their sound imagines an alternate musical timeline where the string band lineup stayed at the center of American popular music.
The band’s catalog includes original albums Lifted and Seven True Stories, plus Blood: Family Harmony Classics, a covers album inspired by two-part brother-duet harmony. Performance credits include an official showcase for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s 2020 Bluegrass Ramble.
